Hasbro Transformers Toys and Action Figures

The Transformers media franchise was purchased by Hasbro in the early 1980s, originating as the Micro Change and Diaclone toy lines. What separated these mecha-like products from others on the market was the transformative nature of the action figures, which could be reassembled into vehicles and weapons.

Upon joining the brand, Transformers figures were given complex backstories by Bob Budiansky and Dennis O'Neil, and this gave rise to mainstay characters, such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Starscream. They would come to be known as Generation One.

Over the years, the ranks of the Autobots and Decepticons, the two opposing factions of the series, have grown substantially, with new Transformers toys having unique vehicular, weapon, and animal forms.

Enter the Hasbro Transformers Universe

The Robots in Disguise have become some of the most popular characters in pop culture, and after multiple decades, collectors (both young and old) continue to purchase new Hasbro Transformers toy releases. There are new iterations of fan-favourite characters and action figures that break the mould of the standard vehicles (cars, trucks, and planes).

The Dinobots are perhaps one of the best examples of the franchise’s evolution, taking the form of various beasts, most of which are dinosaurs. Grimlock, the group’s leader, is perhaps the most well known, and watchers of the live-action movies will recognise him from his appearance in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014).

It’s not just the Dinobots that you need to look out for, however. There have been multiple occasions when the Transformers have crossed over with other franchises, such as G.I. Joe, Jurassic Park, and Star Wars. If you’ve ever wanted to own a Transformer that changes into a green-and-yellow Jeep Wrangler, the Hasbro Transformers collaborative with Jurassic Park has you covered.
